Practice Never Makes Perfect

That is the lesson of the day! No matter how many times you go over and over the details in rehearsal, life seems to have it’s own schedule. Perfection is sought after with such devotion and dedication that perhaps we miss the raw moments that bring out the uncontrollable laugher and joy within us. I had to decide that my wedding was not going to be about perfection. The flowers could die, the cake could melt and the whole procession could be out of order....the ONLY thing that we would allow to matter would be the PEOPLE involved in the wedding and assuring that they understood why they stood in the spot Wade and I chose for them.
We practiced the walk and talk for the wedding ceremony twice and everyone smiled and nodded as they were given instruction. You could tell that people felt uncomfortable and a bit awkward. The truth was that this was the moment that our parents met, our friends met and our lives physically began to touch for the first time. The walking and talking is really not what our focus was, we wanted our hearts to be revealed and for the truth and power of our love to spill over on to each of these indispensable people.I wanted them to stop focusing on where they were standing tomorrow and realize why they would stand there.
Once the wine and whiskey began to be poured and the food filled our stomaches, the connecting really began. Even Wade allowed the armor to be peeled away from his heart long enough for everyone to be overtaken by the power and depth of his love. Wade and I are BLESSED to be surrounded by our family and friends. We have a foundation that is built upon a strong rock and I believe everyone of the people there at Peppino’s is a valuable asset to us both that should be claimed and recognized.
Would all of our practicing and preparing be enough for Perfection? Well I guess that really depends on your definition of perfection...
